Established in 2012, our department commenced its educational activities in the 2012–2013 academic year and graduated its first cohort of students in 2016. Initially admitting 32 students, the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics currently continues its educational activities with an average annual quota of 50 students.
The department consists of four academic divisions: Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, and Molecular Cell Biology. Educational and academic activities are carried out by a dedicated team of 3 Associate Professors, 3 Assistant Professors, and 4 Research Assistants. Several members of our academic staff have completed their postgraduate education abroad, contributing to the department’s international perspective.
The department is equipped with two student laboratories and five research laboratories, offering robust infrastructure and hands-on experience. With its strong academic staff and modern educational resources, the department aims to train competitive, well-educated, and highly qualified graduates who can contribute to an ever-evolving, technology-driven world of the 21st century.
The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics provides undergraduate students with a comprehensive and intellectually enriching education, preparing them to become highly skilled professionals, researchers, and academics. In line with its mission and vision, the department strives to produce graduates and scientists who are competent in their fields, committed to ethical values, diligent, and capable of contributing to the advancement of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University at both national and international levels.
The duration of undergraduate education is 4 years (8 semesters), excluding the optional English preparatory class. To graduate, students must complete a total of 240 ECTS credits, not including the compulsory courses specified in Article 5-i of Law No. 2547. In addition, students are required to complete an internship of 20 or 30 working days. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are awarded a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics.
