Molecular biology and genetics is a discipline of strategic importance that aims to understand the mechanisms of life at the molecular level, with wide-ranging applications spanning from health sciences to biotechnology, from environmental protection to drug development. At Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, we fully recognize the critical importance of this field and are committed to fostering an innovative, research-oriented, and ethically grounded approach to education and scientific inquiry.
Established in 2012, our department has a young and dynamic academic staff and an adaptable structure that keeps pace with rapidly advancing scientific developments. Our primary mission is to educate well-equipped individuals who have a deep understanding of fundamental biological processes at the molecular level and who are capable of meeting the scientific and technological needs of our time. Our undergraduate program is supported by intensive practical training, laboratory experience, and project-based learning, aiming to equip students with analytical thinking, problem-solving, research planning, and data interpretation skills.
We offer a diverse range of courses in key sub-disciplines such as cell biology, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, cancer biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, and bioinformatics. In addition to our undergraduate program, we also provide graduate education opportunities through our Master's program, which emphasizes a student-centered and research-driven educational philosophy to support the academic development of future researchers.
Our students benefit from the modern laboratory facilities of both our department and university, actively participating in thesis work and various scientific projects. Our academic staff are involved in research projects supported by TUBITAK, BAP, TÜSEB, and other national funding agencies, contributing to scientific advancement through national and international publications. This environment provides our students with early exposure to research culture and the opportunity to develop essential scientific competencies.
